For more specific details regarding the internet technology behind PracticeNet, please view previous survey results. These can be found at www.apapracticenet.net/results.asp. View Substance Abuse Survey (Fall 2002) for more details about the methodology. 520 email invitations were sent out, 35 "bounced back," 0 had unresolved technical problems, 33 were incomplete and 16 individuals responded after the 72 hour time frame. The number of technical problems has declined with each survey administration but the number of "bouncebacks" has increased. One of the problems of reliance on email addresses to solicit participation is that email addresses are not stable and some psychologists are not in the habit of checking their email addresses regularly. We have begun actively trying to update "dead" email addresses and were successful in doing so in several instances with enough time for the person to still participate in the survey. We anticipate that psychologists will become more habitual email users as more of their practice is conducted electronically, through electronic medical records, electronic billing, use of email rather than phone for brief communication, etc.
